Asheville Tourists News Release
Hagerstown, MD - The Tourists will have to wait one more day to try and extend their six game winning streak. Monday's opener to an eight game road trip was postponed by rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader beginning at 6:05 pm from Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown. The Tourists (56-31) and the Suns only play each other in one four game series this season.
Asheville has compiled a 16-9 record against Northern Division teams this season, but has yet to face the first half champion Lake County Captains. The Tourists will travel to Lake County following the four game series against the Suns in Hagerstown.
After a mediocre month of July, Asheville has regained their early season dominance coming off a four game sweep of the Rome Braves with crowds of over 4,000 fans for two fireworks shows on July 4th and 5th. The Tourists are 5-0 in the month of July and have scored 51 runs in the past six games. All-Star third baseman Darin Holcomb has led the way for the Tourists and has reached base safely in his last 33 contests. The streak is currently the longest in the South Atlantic League this season.
Tuesday's doubleheader can be heard on WRES FM 100.7 or online at www.theashevilletouirsts.com beginning at 5:50 pm.
The Asheville Tourists are the Single-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. Tickets are available by contacting the front office at (828)-258-0428 or on the website, www.theashevilletourists.com.
