Arkansas Drops Third Straight

North Little Rock, AR - Connor Hoover had two hits including a home run but the Arkansas Travelers fell to the Amarillo Sod Poodles, 5-3 on Saturday night. The Travs never led in the game, tying the contest at one in the first inning after an early Sod Poodle run. Amarillo then took the lead for good with a three-run third inning. Listher Sosa was the winner out of the 'pen for Amarillo with Christian Montes de Oca recording the final seven outs for his eighth save. Blas Castano worked a season high six innings but took the loss for Arkansas.

Moments That Mattered

* A.J. Vukovich hit a go-ahead two-run single to put Amarillo in front in the third inning.

* Arkansas drew leadoff walks in both the eighth and ninth innings but was unable to score each time.

* Hoover has hit three home runs in his last six games.

* Springfield won and Wichita lost putting Springfield one game up for the second half North Division title. The winner will play the Travs in the divisional round of the playoffs.

The series wraps up on Sunday afternoon with Jimmy Joyce (0-3, 4.56) starting for Arkansas against Yilber Diaz (1-0, 1.80) for Amarillo.
