
Castanon Homers, Missions Drop Game Four in Midland

San Antonio Missions News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions continued their six-game series with the Midland RockHounds on Friday night. After leading 5-3, the Missions dropped their third consecutive game to the RockHounds. Midland played nine runs on 12 hits compared to five runs on nine hits for the Missions.
Blake Beers was the starting pitcher for the RockHounds. The right-hander allowed two runs on two hits in the top of the first inning. With one man down, Jakob Marsee singled to right field. Nathan Martorella drew a walk to put two runners on base. Marcos Castanon drove in both runners with a double to center field. San Antonio took a 2-0 lead.
The Missions added three more runs in the top of the third inning. Marsee began the frame with a base hit. After retiring the next batter, Beers allowed a two-run home run to Castanon. Cole Cummings doubled to right field. Michael De La Cruz singled and Cummings advanced to third base. Connor Hollis drove in Cummings with a sacrifice fly. The Missions had a 5-0 lead.
Ryan Bergert was the starting pitcher for the Missions. The right-hander had kept the RockHounds off the scoreboard until the third inning. Jonny Butler and William Simoneit each singled to start the frame. After striking out the next batter, Bergert allowed an RBI double to Cooper Bowman. Drew Swift drove in two runs with a base hit to center field. The Missions held a 5-3 lead.
Midland plated their fourth run of the game in the fifth inning. Butler singled to start the frame. With one man down, Caeden Trenkle singled to put two runners on base. After executing a double steal, Bowman drove in a run with sacrifice fly. San Antonio held a 5-4 lead.
Midland captured the lead in the sixth inning. Max Muncy drew a walk to start the frame. After Bobby Milacki entered the game, Lazaro Armentero homered to left field. His 14th long ball of the season made it a 6-5 Midland lead.
The RockHounds extended their lead with three runs in the eighth inning. Muncy singled and Armenteros walked to start the inning. After striking out the next batter, Jack Winkler homered to left field. His fourth long ball of the season made it a 9-5 ballgame.
