Another Overtime Standings Point for Utah

March 22, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies collected a standings point in a 4-3 overtime loss to Colorado Wednesday night at Maverik Center.

Utah goes to 8-2-3-2 in their last 15 games as Colorado scored two goals in 65 seconds in the final 5:05 of the regulation.

"Tonight we played well for 55 minutes, controlled the game, I thought," said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. "Unfortunately that's a learning situation. I thought we could have done a better job of keeping things simple and making the game boring."

Grizzlies goaltender Brandon Wildung stopped 23 of 27 shots in his professional debut out of Mercyhurst College.

"I thought it was a really good debut," said Branham.  "We left him out to drive the last 5 minutes of regulation. I thought he played a pretty good game for us."

Utah took a 1-0 lead 8:50 into the first period as Travis Howe (2) threw in a puck from the corner.

Colorado tied 4:58 later to force the 1-1 tie at the first intermission.

The Grizzlies took a 2-1 lead 9:38 into the second period as Kyle Thomas fed Sam Babintsev behind the net.

After Utah killed a third period penalty, Michael Pelech picked up a turnover and walked in unassisted to give the Grizzlies a 3-1 lead 9:01 into the third period.
