Andreas Holmqvist Assigned From Tampa Bay

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots, under the new ownership group of Hockey Enterprises of Pensacola L.L.C. with the sole owner Tim Kerr, announced that defenseman Andreas Holmqvist has been assigned to the Ice Pilots from the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL through the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.

Holmqvist, who stands 6'4" and weighs 190 pounds, played in four games with Hamilton of the AHL this season. He played in 43 games last year for Linkopings in Sweden scoring 4 goals, 9 assists for 13 points and picked up 28 penalty minutes.

During the 2001-2002 season, Holmqvist played in 52 games for Hammerby in the Sweden-1 League scoring 10 goals, 16 assists for 26 points and picked up 50 penalty minutes and represented Sweden at the 2001 World Junior Championships picking up two assists in six games.

Holmqvist is 22 years old from Stockholm, Sweden and shoots right. He was selected in the second round and the 61st player taken overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Holmqvist is expected to be in the line-up tomorrow night when the Ice Pilots play home to the Texas Wildcatters at 7:05 p.m. The Ice Pilots will also play Friday night vs. Louisiana at 7:05 p.m. Fans are asked to donate a used or new coat at the game for the Diamond Dry Cleaners "Coasts For Kids" campaign. It is also Church night.
