Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, Jan. 6)... Students around Rochester and the surrounding suburbs will now have the opportunity to meet their favorite Amerks and Knighthawks players, and learn about the importance of education, as part of the organization's Speaker's Bureau.
The Rochester Americans will kick off the program on Friday, January 7th at 1:30 p.m. at State Road Elementary in Webster. Defenseman Paul Baier will talk to the kids about how education played a role in his development as a professional athlete. Baier, who attended Brown University, will address the school assembly that includes students from third to fifth grade.
"The Amerks and Knighthawks are proud to offer this new program to the Rochester community and meet some of our younger fans, who bring so much passion and enthusiasm to our games," said Amerks and Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "Our players realize they are role models and we are happy to be involved with the Speaker's Bureau and teaching kids about the importance of learning and education."
The Speaker's Bureau will focus on healthy living, team work, and being active and physically fit. Orchestrated by an Amerks/Knighthawks community relations representative, the program offers a wide-variety of speakers, including players, coaches, senior management and broadcasters. Kids, educators and their parents can meet some of the most successful athletes in Rochester history. The Speaker's Bureau is also available to college and high school classes.
The list of speakers includes former NHL Coach of the Year and Amerks Senior Business Advisor to the President Ted Nolan, AHL and Amerks and Knighthawks Hall of Famer Jody Gage, Amerks Hall of Fame Broadcaster Don Stevens, Amerks and Knighthawks President Lewis Staats, and Amerks Head Coach Chuck Weber... to name a few.
If you are interested in having a Knighthawks or Amerks representative at your event, please call Shannon Burrows at (585) 454-5335, ext. 3051. At each event, the Amerks and Knighthawks will distribute a special ticket offer to watch two of Rochester's premiere sports franchises.
