Brampton Beast News Release

ALLEN, Texas - After so many things had gone right for the Brampton Beast during their latest three-game winning streak, the wheels that had driven them 2,164 kilometers to the Allen Event Centre in Collin County, Texas finally came off Friday night.

It was an ugly 9-2 loss at the hands of the Allen Americans in front of a raucous crowd of 3759 that saw 16 different penalties assessed to the two teams for a total of 44 penalty minutes.

Brampton got on the board first with Chad Painchaud deflecting Mike MacIsaac's point shot past Americans netminder Riley Gill for his second goal of the season just 3:03 into the game, with Brayden Rose also notching an assist on the play.

Allen would go on to even the score just over two minutes later as right-winger Austin Smith found time and space in front of the net to beat Grant Rollheiser up high for his second of the year. It was the first of four Allen goals in the period, and first of seven over the opening 40 minutes that would put the game out of reach early for the home team.

With his team trailing by six and in dire need of a spark late in the second, feisty forward Tyson Fawcett dropped the gloves with winger Greger Hanson, who stands two inches taller and twenty pounds heavier than Fawcett. Despite the size disadvantage, the Brampton forward again proved his value to the line-up landing several quick rights on Hanson to score the decision and force the Americans player to undergo repairs afterwards from his team training staff.

Initially it seemed like the Beast would get a jump in momentum from the fight, as MacIsaac picked up his second point of the game 2:38 into the final period with his third goal of the season. Painchaud would record an assist on the play for his team-leading 11th point (2 goals, 9 assists) in 10 games. But that would be all the Beast could muster as Allen would go on to score a final two unanswered goals in the third for the 9-2 final

Gill made 20 saves in the win and was replaced after the second period by backup Raphael Girard, likely to keep the Americans starter fresh for tomorrow's rematch. Allen will welcome the Beast back to the Allen Event Center for game two of the doubleheader tomorrow night at 8:05 pm EST.
