October 7, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has reassigned 17-year-old defenseman Spencer Humphries to the Westside Warriors of the British Columbia Hockey League. The move is effective immediately and reduces the club roster to 26 players (15 forwards, 8 defensemen and 3 goaltenders).
Humphries, a native of Delta, BC, appeared in five games for the Americans this pre-season, collecting an assist and a minus-3 rating in the process. He later made one regular season appearance on October 2 in Seattle. Originally listed by Tri-City in September of 2007, Humphries made his WHL debut on September 20, 2008 vs. the Kelowna Rockets. He played in three WHL games last season, collecting four penalty minutes in those contests.
Fresh off their weekend split, Tri-City will now prepare for their next contest, set for Friday, October 9th vs. the Portland Winterhawks at Memorial Coliseum. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Portland's only loss thus far came at the hands of the Americans, a 4-3 loss in Kennewick on September 25. Meanwhile, Tri-City will be looking to get their first road victory of the season. Fans can watch all the action live, via WHL WebTV, at the Americans' Home Away From Home, Kimo's Sports Café in Richland, starting at 7:30 p.m. Fans can also catch the game live on NewsTalk 870 AM, starting with the Sterling Savings Bank Warm-up Show at 7:15 p.m.
