Americans Extend Qualifying Offers to Seven Players
July 1, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The ECHL Kelly Cup Champion Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, extended qualifying offers today to seven players from the 2014-2015 roster.
Those receiving offers today include: ECHL Scoring Champion Chad Costello, ECHL Kelly Cup MVP Greger Hanson, The ECHL's regular season goal scoring leader Gary Steffes, as well as Spencer Asuchak, Ian Schultz, Kyle Follmer and Justin Baker.
Each ECHL team was entitled to reserve the rights to a maximum of eight qualified players. Of the eight qualified players, no more than four could be veterans (260 regular season professional hockey games played as of the start of the upcoming 2015-16 season). Players on open qualifying offers cannot be traded. Players who already signed a contract by June 30th did not need to receive a qualifying offer.
The qualifying offer will remain open for acceptance until August 1st, at which time the qualifying offer becomes null and void and the team may sign the qualified player to any salary, or may elect to take no further action. Teams that extend a valid qualifying offer to a non-veteran player shall retain the rights to that qualified player for one playing season.
The Americans begin their seventh season in professional hockey this October. Allen has won three straight championships, with two Presidents' Cup Titles, (CHL) and one Kelly Cup Championship (ECHL).
