Allen's Gem Silences Reno Bats

Reno Aces News Release

El Paso, Texas - El Paso's Logan Allen is famiiler with the Aces lineup. Friday night's outing against Reno was the lefty's third start against the club this season, and it was his best. The West Palm Beach, Florida native went seven innings allowing one run, three hits, one walk while punching out 10 hitters. Allen is now 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA in three starts over 18 innings pitched against Reno in 2019.

The Chihuahuas jumped on starter Jon Duplantier in the first scoring four runs on three hits including a 2-run home run off the bat of Matthew Batten. However, the Diamondbacks' top pitching prospect settled down to turn in a solid start going 4.1 innings allowing four runs on five hits while striking out six. It is the longest outting of the season and most strikeouts for Duplantier in his Triple-A career. The lone Aces run was courtesy of Wyatt Mathisen who homered in the top of the seventh inning. It is his sixth home run and 15th RBI of the month. Overall the Aces were held to three hits matching a season-low. Yasmany Tomas singled in the game to extend his hit-streak to 12.

The team will be back in the Biggest Little City tomorrow night to begin a four-game set against the Las Vegas Aviators with Alex Young on the hill taking the ball at 6:35 p.m.

Notes & Information

Something Had to Give: After the Aces bat's have been scorching as of late putting up an average of 11.4 runs a game over their previous five, they fell silent tonight. Without Tim Locastro, Ildemaro Vargas, and Kevin Cron the Aces matched their season low in hits in a game with three. They got three hits two other times this season and lost both games (4/7 @ FRE, 5/9 @ TAC).

10 K Game: Logan Allen's 10 strikeouts tonight was the first time an opposing pitcher struck out double-digit batters since Albuquerque's Ryan Carpenter did it on August 28, 2017. The Isotopes won that game 6-2.
