March 29, 2002 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
Manitoba Moose goaltender Alfie Michaud set a new franchise record for most shutouts in a single season and captured the all-time Moose shutout record by stopping 27 saves in a 1-0 shutout win over the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday. Michaud recorded his fourth shutout of the season which represents the highest Moose total for a season and all-time. It broke the mark previously held by Rich Parent established in the 1997-98 season.
The Selkirk, MB native has now posted three shutouts in the last two weeks: a 31 save performance in a 5-0 victory at home against Grand Rapids on March 15 and a team-high 43 save game in a 6-0 home win versus Saint John on March 20.
Michaud, 25, has now won seven of the last nine games he has played since his recall on March 4. He has now started the last seven consecutive games, winning six of them. The 5'10 netminder native has only given up nine goals in the last seven contests.
The Moose continue their battle for a high playoff seed and look to clinch a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference tonight against the Hartford Wolf Pack at 6:00 p.m. CST. The team will return home to a large crowd for their final regular season match on Sunday, April 7 against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
