Alec Richards Reassigned to Toledo

Rockford, Ill- The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Sunday that they have reassigned goaltender Alec Richards from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.

Richards, 24, has appeared in 22 games for the IceHogs this season. The puckstopper shows a record of 7-11-2 with a .893 save percentage and 3.55 goals against average.

In January, the tandem of Richards and Carter Hutton combined for a .927 save percentage and a 2.20 goals against average to help Rockford to their best month of the season, finishing 9-3-0-1.

In 2010-11, the netminder set IceHogs rookie goaltending records for games (44), wins (17), lowest GAA (2.89), save percentage (.899) and shutouts (2). The Robbinsdale, Minnesota native posted a 17-21-1 record to go with a 2.89 goals against average and .899 save percentage between the pipes for the IceHogs a season ago.

The former Yale Bulldog spent the majority of the 2009-10 season with the Walleye, recording a 17-12-5 record with a .897 save percentage and 3.35 goals against average. Before turning pro, Richards compiled 39 wins and a 2.68 goals against average to rank second all-time at Yale University.
