The Gwinnett Gladiators regained sole possession of the top spot in the ECHL's Eastern Conference after earning four points this past weekend against the Greenville Road Warriors. Gwinnett is 25-12-7-3 (60 points) on the season. The Gladiators have won nine consecutive home games and will host three more games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center this weekend against the Florida Everblades, Chicago Express and North Division leading Kalamazoo Wings.

Florida Everblades Preview :

The Gladiators are 7-2-2-0 against the Florida Everblades this season. The Everblades are currently ranked fourth in the South Division with 49 points (22-20-2-3). Gwinnett's Nikita Kashirsky is tops for Gwinnett against the Everblades with 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists). Andy Brandt and Pat Galivan have each scored four goals against Florida. The Everblades leaders against the Glads are Scott Pitt and Mathieu Roy with nine points each.

Chicago Express Preview :

The Gladiators' tilt with the Chicago Express on Friday will be their second meeting of the season. In their last battle, the Gladiators defeated the Express in a 3-2 shootout. Gwinnett's Ryley Gratham and Joey Haddad each had a goal for the Gladiators in the win on November 13th. Chicago is currently on a five-game winning streak. Tyler Donati is the Express' top scorer with 48 points (12 goals, 36 assists) in the 2011-12 season.

Kalamazoo Wings Preview :

The Gladiators and Wings have not played each other this season. Kalamazoo is tops for the North Division and third overall in the Eastern Conference of the ECHL with 55 points (25-15-2-3) this season. The Wings leader is Trent Daavettila who has collected 44 points and is also tops for Kalamazoo in plus/minus ranking with a +9 on the season.

Friday, February 3: Gwinnett, 3, Greenville, 0 - W

The Gwinnett Gladiators shut out the Greenville Road Warriors 3-0 Friday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis collected his fifth shutout of the season, tying his career best for most shutouts in a single season. Gladiator forward Justin Milo notched two goals in the win. Andy Brandt played his 263rd game for the Gladiators, making him the career leader in games played for Gwinnett.

Saturday, February 4: Gwinnett, 3, Greenville, 2 - SOW

Newcomer netminder Joe Palmer collected his first shootout win as a Gwinnett Gladiator in a 3-2 win over the Greenville Road Warriors in front of 10,082 on Saturday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center . Gladiators forward Nikita Kashisrksy and defenseman Dallas Jackson each notched a goal in the win. Joey Haddad broke a 1-1 tie in the shootout and Pat Galivan put the game away with his fifth-round shootout goal. The Gladiators are currently in first place of the ECHL Eastern Conference with 60 points (25-12-7-3).

News & Notes :

Moving Up: Gladiators forward Andy Brandt set a new Gladiators team record for most games played in a Gwinnett jersey in the win over the Greenville Road Warriors on February 3rd. Brandt has appeared in 264 career games with the Gladiators. Brandt is in sole possession of 4th place overall in organizational history, currently trailing Jason Elders (438), Hugues Gervais (328) and Dave Craievich (287) for most games played in organizational history. The top 3 all played their entire careers with the Mobile Mysticks.

A Streaker! Forward Nikita Kashirsky collected a goal for the Gladiators in a 3-2 victory over Greenville on February 4th. With the goal, Kashirsky extended his point-scoring streak for the Gladiators to ten games to set a team season high for most consecutive games with at least one point. Kashirsky has recorded 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in his current streak. The longest point scoring streak this season in the ECHL is 15 games held by Eric Lampe of the Las Vegas Wranglers.

Home Sweet Home: The Gladiators continue to use home ice to their advantage this season. After Saturday's 3-2 win over the Greenville Road Warriors on home ice, the Gladiators have now won 10 straight on home ice at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The last loss for Gwinnett at home was a 3-1 defeat against Florida on December 30th. Gwinnett is now 17-5-0-2 on home ice this season. The 10 game home winning streak is currently the longest home winning streak in organizational history topping a nine game winning streak between January 14th and February 17th of 2006 and a nine game home winning streak while in Mobile from February 9th through March 31st of 2001.

Adding Up Points : Forward Pat Galivan extended his point-scoring streak to nine games, just one game shy of Nikita Kashisrky's team season high of 10 games. The Oak Park, Illinois native has collected 11 points in his last nine games for the Gladiators with an assist in the 3-2 shoot-out win over the Greenville Road Warriors. Galivan also put the game away on Saturday after beating Road Warriors netminder Jason Missiaen in the fifth-round of the shootout.

Another Blanking! Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis notched his fifth shutout of the season for Gwinnett in a 3-0 win over the Greenville Road Warriors on February 3rd. He tied his career season best for most shutouts in a season. He notched five shutouts while with the Charlotte Checkers in the 2008-09 season. Jakaitis set the Gladiators team record for most shutouts by a goaltender in a single season surpassing the previous record of four by Michael Garnett in the Gladiators inaugural 2003-04 season. His five shutouts is currently tops in the ECHL this season.
