Albany begins seven-game homestand after fourth straight road victory

The Albany River Rats begin a season-long, seven-game homestand Wednesday night at 7:00pm against the Providence Bruins at Pepsi Arena. Then the Rats play host to the hottest team in the American Hockey League, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:00pm on Friday night. And Albany closes out Week One of the homestand Saturday night at 7:00pm in a battle with the Worcester IceCats at Pepsi Arena.

Rat Bites:

RW Aleksander Suglobov is tied for fifth among all AHL rookies with 13 (5-8-13) points during the 2003-04 campaign.

The Albany River Rats' four straight road wins are tied for the longest road-winning streak in the AHL. The club is unbeaten in its last five (4-0-1) on enemy ice dating back to October 25th.

LW Joe Hulbig skated in his 350th AHL game on Saturday night against Philadelphia. The winger, who scored the game-winner against his old Providence club on Sunday, is one point shy of 200 (88-111) in his professional career.

River Rats Rewind: Week 7 - November 24, 2003 (2-1-0, 4 pts)

November 26th – ALB 2 @ HER 1 – D Krisjanis Redlihs scored the game-winner at 6:48 of the second period and G Ari Ahonen stopped 40 of 41 shots as the River Rats evened the season series with Hershey. LW Steve Kariya scored for the second straight game and D Matt DeMarchi notched two assists in his return to action from a 10-game absence.

November 29th – PHI 4 @ ALB 0 – Phantoms G Antero Niittymaki stopped all 24 River Rats shots en route to his second shutout of the season as Philadelphia ran its unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1). Albany LW Ryan Murphy led the club with four shots on goal and G Ari Ahonen made 24 saves as the club fell to 1-6-1 at Pepsi Arena this season.

November 30th - ALB 3 @ PRO 2 – D Matt DeMarchi posted his first professional goal and former Providence LW Joe Hulbig scored the game-winner at 11:39 of the second period as the River Rats stretched their road unbeaten streak to fives (4-0-1) games. RW Aleksander Suglobov chipped in two assists and D Sean Brown scored his first goal in an Albany uniform.
