Adirondack Phantoms News Release
(PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 2, 2003) - The Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League today announced that veteran right wing Kirby Law has been named the Toyota Phantoms Player of the Month for November. Law, who led the team in points and goals last month, will receive his award prior to Philadelphia's game against the Norfolk Admirals this Friday, Dec. 5 at 7:05 p.m.
Law tied for second in the AHL with 19 points (10G, 9A) in November, while adding four power-play goals and two game-winning goals to help Philadelphia post a 9-4-2 record. Highlights of his month included a four-point performance (2G, 2A) in a 6-2 win at Hershey on Nov. 2; scoring the game-winning goal with 12.3 seconds left in overtime of a 3-2 win in Hershey on Nov. 8; and a two-goal game in a 4-4 tie vs. Norfolk on Nov. 26.
"I thought Kirby had his best month ever as a Phantom," said Phantoms head coach John Stevens. "He was a force offensively for our hockey team."
Now in his fifth season with the Phantoms, Law is currently tied for third in the league in points (23), tied for seventh in goals (10), tied for fourth in power-play goals (4) and tied for 14th in assists (13). The 26-year-old from McCreary, Manitoba has also appeared in three games with the Flyers since being acquired in a three-way trade with Atlanta and Carolina on March 14, 2000.
The Toyota Phantoms Player of the Month is new during the 2003-04 season, as a Phantoms player will be honored each month through the end of the regular season for his contributions on the ice. Mark Murphy received the award for the month of October.
