Aerodynamics...

Winning Ways...The Aeros won their seventh straight game last night, defeating New Hampshire 8-2 thanks to the arm of RHP Kevin Dixon and several hot bats in the lineup. Dixon put together his sixth quality start of the year, and allowed just two hits through the first four innings. The Fisher Cats struck in the fifth with a run on three singles, and added their only other run on a solo homer in the sixth by Jacob Butler. Dixon picked up his third win, tossing 6.1 innings and surrendering two runs on seven hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts. The Aeros did most of their offensive damage in the middle innings with three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth. 1B Matt Whitney, 2B Brandon Pinckney, and LF Trevor Crowe all had RBI singles in the fifth to give the Aeros a 3-1 lead, and in the sixth DH Ryan Goleski sent a three-run shot over the wall in left to give Akron a 6-2 lead. It was Goleski's second three-run homer in as many nights, and he also doubled and scored three runs on the night. In the eighth, Pinckney's two-run bloop single provided the final margin.

Scoring Great, Even Late...During this seven-game winning streak, Akron's ability to score late and keep the opponent off the board has been uncanny. Starting with last Wednesday's win in New Hampshire, the Aeros have outscored their opponents by - wait for it - 36 runs (40-4) from the sixth inning on. Included in those numbers are comebacks from 10-0 (believed to be a franchise record), 6-0, and 6-1 deficits. Saturday at Portland, the Aeros outscored the Sea Dogs 11-0 in the final four innings and won the game 11-10. The next day, Akron outscored Portland 7-0 in the last four frames and won 7-6, and Tuesday the Aeros outscored the Fisher Cats 7-1 in the final four innings and claimed an 8-6 victory. The Akron offense has really picked up during the winning streak, as the team is hitting .360 (95-264) and has scored 53 runs (7.57 runs per game). The Aeros have also reached double-digits in hits in the each of their last eight games.

Counting Crowe...Leadoff-hitter Trevor Crowe's resurgence has been a big part of the offense's recent proficiency, as he tied an Aeros season-high with four hits in last night's win and now has an eight-game hitting streak. The 2005 first-round pick is hitting .361 (13-36) with four walks, four doubles, seven runs, and six RBI during the streak and has raised his season average 79 points from .155 to .234 entering play tonight.

Red Light...Opposing managers, whether by circumstance or coincidence, have not tried to run on the Aeros in over a week. The last time an opponent attempted a steal on the Aeros was June 3rd at New Hampshire and the last successful steal against Akron came May 30th at Harrisburg (Ian Desmond). Akron's last steal came May 30th vs. Bowie (Crowe).

Did You Know...The Aeros have struck out just once in the first two games of this series (Ryan Goleski last night).
