Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (27-17-3-3, 60 points) were defeated by the Houston Aeros (30-19-1-3, 64 points) 4-1 on Tuesday night in front of 4,818 fans at Cedar Park Center. Houston goalie Anton Khudobin (17-9-1) made 32 saves to preserve the win as Texas outshot Houston 33-27. Houston center Patrick O'Sullivan had a multi-point night with a goal and an assist. Right wing Jon DiSalvatore tallied three assists to lead the Aeros offense. Center Cody Almond also secured a goal and an assist for Houston. Texas right wing Colton Sceviour scored the lone Texas goal midway through the third period. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (18-11-2) made 23 saves in the loss to bring the Stars to 14-8-3-2 at home. Texas will host the Rockford IceHogs on Friday, February 11th at 7:30 PM.
Houston took an early lead 1:01 into the first period with a goal by defenseman Justin Falk. Forwards Cody Almond and Jon DiSalvatore each picked up an assist on the goal for the 1-0 lead. Houston took a 2-0 lead with 5:16 remaining in the first period as right wing Jed Ortmeyer netted his third goal of the season. Center Patrick O'Sullivan and defenseman Maxim Noreau helped with the play.
The Aeros continued the scoring 5:21 into the second period as center Patrick O'Sullivan beat Bachman to give Houston a 3-0 lead. Defenseman Tyler Cuma and right wing Jon DiSalvatore both added an assist on the play.
Texas right wing Colton Sceviour notched the first goal of the night for the Stars at 10:53 of the third period. Left wing Brandon Segal and defenseman Brad Lukowich each provided an assist on Sceviour's tenth goal of the season. Aeros' center Cody Almond stretched Houston's lead to 4-1 with 4:48 left in the third period. Forwards Jon DiSalvatore and Colton Gillies both set up Almond's 11th goal of the season.
Texas will host the Rockford IceHogs on Friday, February 11th at 7:30 PM. Every Friday is a 3-2-1 night, featuring $3 domestic drafts, $2 regular sodas and $1 hot dogs.
