
Bulldogs Burned by Heat in 4-3 Loss

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Abbotsford Heat 4-3 on Tuesday night at Copps Coliseum. Andrew Conboy returned to the Bulldogs line-up and scored but it was not enough for the 'Dogs as they were unable to gain a lead in the game after falling behind on three first period tallies by the Heat.
Abbotsford opened the game's scoring at 1:08 of the first frame. Ales Kotalik sent the puck to Ryan Stone, who released a shot from the right side boards. The puck sailed through traffic before beating Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford through the five-hole. The Heat increased their lead at 3:39. Jon Rheault gathered the puck in the right corner before dishing a pass to John Armstrong, who was positioned in front of the net. Armstrong snapped a shot between the legs of Sanford and into the net. Rheault gave Abbotsford a 3-0 lead at 10:21 while on the power-play. T.J. Brodie dished the puck to the right point, where Rheault was stationed. Rheault blasted a shot that beat Sanford over the blocker.
The 'Dogs got on the scoreboard at 11:56 of the opening stanza. Aaron Palushaj received the puck from Ryan Russell before racing into the Heat zone on the left side. Palushaj flipped the puck towards the net with a backhand shot. The puck trickled past Abbotsford starting goaltender Leland Irving and across the goal line.
Hamilton made the game 3-2 at 9:01 of the second stanza. J.T. Wyman sent the puck to Andrew Conboy, who skated off the right side boards and towards the net. Conboy rifled a shot over the blocker of Irving and into the top left corner of the net.
The Heat took a 4-2 lead at 2:41 of the final frame while on the power play. Gord Baldwin received a pass from Cam Cunning before blasting a shot towards the net from the right point. While stationed in front of Sanford, Bryan Cameron redirected the shot past the goaltender and into the net.
Gabriel Dumont cut Abbotsford's lead to one at 12:13 of the third stanza. Kyle Klubertanz sent the puck to Dumont, who was in front of the net. Dumont snapped a shot over the glove of Irving and into the top right corner of the net.
The Bulldogs continue their three-game home-stand on Friday, February 11th when they welcome the Connecticut Whale to Copps Coliseum for a 7:00 p.m. game. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
