Syracuse Crunch News Release

Syracuse, NY (February 8, 2011) - Syracuse Crunch President and CEO Howard Dolgon issued the following statements in response to the Brooklyn Cyclones' invitation today to pop star Christina Aguilera to sing the National Anthem at one of their games.

The Crunch were the first team to issue a similar invitation to Aguilera yesterday to sing the National Anthem at an upcoming home game for a chance to redeem herself after flubbing the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner at Super Bowl XLV on Sunday at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

The Brooklyn-born and raised Dolgon said the following:

"I am very disappointed in my hometown. Usually, the big city sets the bar, but in this case, they are following their small town brethren. I am surprised that New York City was a day behind Syracuse, but imitation is the highest form of flattery. After she performs at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena in beautiful, snowy, Central New York, she can head to Coney Island to test her chops and enjoy a Nathan's Famous Hot Dog at a Cyclones game."
