Milwaukee Admirals News Release

THIS WEEK...The Admirals return to the Bradley Center on Thursday night as they play host to the Houston Aeros (4-7-1-1) in the fourth of ten meetings between the teams. The Admirals are 2-1 in the previous three winning both games at the new Toyota Center in Houston and dropping a 5-1 decision at the Bradley Center on October 17th. In the previous 53 games in the rivalry, the Admirals are 26-20-1-6, including 13-10-0-2 in games played at the Bradley Center. The Admirals then travel north of the border for games on Friday and Saturday night against the North Division leading Hamilton Bulldoges (9-5-1-1). These are two of four games this season against Hamilton. Milwaukee is 1-2-1-0 lifetime against the Bulldogs, including a 1-1 mark at the Copps Coliseum.

LAST WEEK'S ACTION: The Admirals split a pair of games last week and have now won four of their last five games and have picked up at least one point in eight of their last nine outings. On Friday night, the Admirals outshot Grand Rapids, 49-16, but ended up on the short end of a 4-1 decision. Timofei Shishkonov supplied the Admirals firepower with his fourth goal of the year. The 16 shots allowed were the fewest allowed by the Admirals since April 12, 2000 when the Chicago Wolves mustered only 16, but won, 3-2. On Saturday night, the Admiral's squandered a 3-1 lead, but won on Mike Farrell's goal 28 seconds into overtime. Scottie Upshall (1g-1a) and Tony Hrkac (2a) had multiple point games and Brian Finley stopped 34 of 37 of the Aeros' shots.

HEAD OF THE CLASS...Greg Classen leads the Admirals in scoring with eight points (3g-5a). The Admirals balanced scoring attack features six other Admirals with seven points.

LUCKY 7'S...First year pro Timofei Shishkanov and versatile veteran Mike Farrell share the Admirals goal scoring lead with five. Shishkanov, a 20-year old Moscow native, has scored in four of the last five games, including five points and four goals. He also leads the Admirals in first goals with three, including both games last week. Mike Farrell grabbed his share of the Admirals goal scoring lead with the dramatic game winner in the overtime period on Saturday night. It was another clutch goal for Farrell, who has played on both defense and wing during the season. The 25-year old, former Washington Capital was instrumental in the Admirals returning with two of four points in St. John's earlier this season. He scored one game-tying goal in an eventual 3-2 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs on October 28th and his unassisted effort was responsible for the Admirals' getting even in a 2-2 tie against St.John's the following night.

MORE ROOKIES... First year pros Scottie Upshall and Libor Pivko have each scored seven points, including three goals. Upshall, 20, has scored in four of his six games for the Admirals and supplied two game winning goals. Pivko, who hails from the Czech Republic, also ranks among team leaders with a plus/minus of +5.

HAY-DER DON'T FORGET US...Darren Haydar (2g-5a) and Tony Hrkac (1g-6a) round out the group at seven points. Hayder, who was named the A.H.L.'s Outstanding Rookie in 2002-2003, tallied 75 points, including 29 goals in 75 games last season. The veteran Hrkac picked up two assists on Saturday night, including one on Mike Farrell's game winner. The veteran center has posted seven points in his first four games with Milwaukee. Hrkac played for the Admirals from 1994-1997 and averaged more than a point per game in that tenure (65g-156a=221p in 195 gp). The 1992-93 IHL MVP has played in 80 NHL games each of the last three seasons and posted 371 points (132g-239a) in 758 career NHL games.

SMITH WITH A SHORTHANDER!...Wyatt Smith scored the Admirals first shorthanded goal of the season on Saturday night in Houston. The former University of Minnesota standout scored two shorthanded goals in 56 games for the Admirals last season to share the team lead with Martin Erat. Milwaukee has yet to surrender a shorthanded tally.

BITS AND PIECES...The Admirals enter this week's action with a three-game road winning streak and have picked up at least one point in each of their first six road games. In close games decided by two or fewer goals the Admirals are 5-0-1, including 2-0 in two-goal games. Five of the Admirals first 12 games have gone into overtime with the Admirals sporting a 1-0-3-1 record.
