
Canucks Recall Nathan Smith

The Vancouver Canucks today announced they will recall centre Nathan Smith from the Manitoba Moose, effective Tuesday, November 18, 2003.
Smith, 21, has played in all 18 games for the Moose so far this season, registering six assists and 19 penalty minutes. He had a two-game assists streak snapped Saturday night in a 3-1 victory over the Utah Grizzlies.
Last year, in his first professional season, the Strathcona, AB native played in 53 games, scoring nine goals and eight assists to go along with 30 PIM. In first game as a Moose on October 11, 2002, Smith fired the first goal of the Moose season at home against the Worcester IceCats. In 14 playoff games with Manitoba last year, he notched one goal and three assists plus 25 PIM. He scored the double-overtime winner in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarter-Final against the Providence Bruins. This will be Smith's first NHL recall to the Canucks in his career.
Smith was Vancouver's first choice, 23rd overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
