
Admirals snap skid, lead West by seven

OVERALL...The Admirals have reached the three-quarter mark of the season with a 36-17-3-4 mark and lead the AHL's West Division by seven points over the second place Chicago Wolves (32-19-4-2). The Admirals picked up three of a possible six points last week (1-1-1-0) and are 1-3-0-2 in the last six contests. The Admirals are 25-14-1-3 against West Division foes, including 13-6 on Bradley Center ice.
THIS WEEK...VS. UTAH... Milwaukee is 6-1 vs. the Grizzlies this season outscoring them 34-15 overall. The Ads are 2-0 at the Bradley Center and finished the season series in Utah with a 4-1 mark. The Admirals are 8-1 in the last nine overall and have won five straight at the BC.
VS. GRAND RAPIDS...The Ads are 2-2-0-1 vs. the Griffins. The Admirals are 0-1 at the Bradley Center and finished the season series in Grand Rapids 2-1-0-1. The Ads are now 4-4-1-1 in the last 10 overall and 1-1-1 in the last three in Milwaukee.
LAST WEEK... On Saturday, Dan Hamhuis' goal at 2:57 of the extra frame gave the Admirals a 3-2 victory over the St. John's Maple Leafs in front of 8,259 Bradley Center fans. On Friday night, the Griffins scored two goals in a 12-second span late in the third period for a 4-2 victory. Tony Hrkac and Timofei Shishkanov scored for the Admirals and Seamus Kotyk stopped 29 of 33 shots. The Ads suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to the Syracuse Crunch on Tuesday night at the BC. Scottie Upshall registered two goals. His first broke an Admirals' scoreless stretch of 135:24 dating back to the previous Friday in Grand Rapids.
SHUTOUT NUMBERS... The Ads have now been shutout six times this season, one shy of the club record of seven, which was established during the 2001-02 season.
ONE GOAL GAMES...Thirty of the Admirals 60 games have been decided by one goal and the Ads are 15-8-3-4 in one-goal games. Thirteen games have finished 3-2 with the Admirals holding a record of 8-2-2-1 in 3-2 frays.
TRANSACTIONS...The Admirals have recalled right wing Paul Brown from the Trenton (ECHL) Titans. Brown, 20, has 26 penalty minutes and is +2 in four games with the Admirals this season. The Predator's third round selection (89th overall) in the 2003 draft had six points (2g-4a) and 63 penalty minutes in 20 games with Trenton.
HOME COOKIN'...The Admirals won the first game of the franchise record nine-game homestand. The previous longest homestand was eight-games (3-4-1), which extended from January 28th through February 15, 1998. The next eight and 11 of the next 13 games will be on Bradley Center ice where the Admirals are 17-7-1-1 this season. The Admirals won't play their next road game until they begin a two-game series in Cincinnati on March 25th and 26th.
THREE-IN-THREE... The Ads have completed seven stretches of three games in three days and are 14-4-1-2 in those 21 contests, including 9-2-1-2 on the road. They are 6-0-0-1 in game ones, 4-1-1-1 in the second games and 4-3 in game threes. Milwaukee's only remaining three-in-three is the final weekend of the regular season, April 15-17.
OVERTIME/SHOOTOUT NUMBERS...Five of the Admirals last nine games and three of the past six home games have gone into overtime. The Ads have needed overtime 12 times this season and sport a 5-3 mark in games decided in an extra stanza. They are still looking for their first win after four straight shootout losses.
SIXTY DOWN, TWENTY TO GO...The Admirals' have 79 points (36-17-3-4) after 60 games compared to 76 (33-17-7-3) at the same point last year. On the road, the Ads had 44 points (19-9-3-3) after 34 road games last season compared to 43 points (19-10-2-3) this season. On home ice, Milwaukee's 17-7-1-1 this season compared to 15-8-3 after 26 home games in 2003-04. Last season, the Admirals were 9-1, including 4-0 at home in games 61 through 70.
DROUGHT BUSTER... Simon Gamache scored two points (1g-1a) in Saturday night's game breaking a six-game scoring drought and a ten-game goalless streak. Gamache leads Milwaukee scorers and ranks third in the AHL with 69 points (23g-46a) and is tied for third among AHL playmakers with 46 assists.
THREE-TWENTIES... Darren Haydar ranks second among Admirals' scorers with 48 points (23g-25a). His goal in Saturday night's game broke a five-game scoreless streak. The University of New Hampshire alum and 2003 AHL Rookie of the Year now has 72 AHL regular season goals, including 20 or more in each of his first three pro seasons.
DYNAMIC DEFENSEMEN DUO...Andrew Hutchinson leads AHL defensemen with 41 points and is second among league defensemen with 31 assists. Hamhuis is second among AHL defensemen with 40 points, tied for second with 11 goals and is tied for the league lead with four game winners.
POWER PLAY... The Admirals lead the AHL with 66 power play goals and rank third in power play percentage completing 66 of 347 chances for a 19% completion rate. The Ads have just two power play tallies in 49 chances (4.1%) over the last 11 games. Hamhuis is tied for the lead among AHL defensemen with eight ppg's, while Simon Gamach is tied for third in the AHL with 14 power play markers.
BITS AND PIECES... Upshall enters this week's action with a modest three-game scoring streak (2g-2a). Brian Finley is tied for second among AHL netminders with 27 victories and he ranks 11th among AHL goaltenders with a 2.21 goals against average. Ryan Suter is tied for the lead among AHL rookies with a +14.
