Forward Chris Neil to join the Binghamton Senators

OTTAWA – The Binghamton Senators announced on Tuesday that right wing Chris Neil has signed a contract with the club.

No player currently on the Binghamton roster has played in more National Hockey League contests than Neil who is a veteran of 222 NHL games with the Ottawa Senators over the last three seasons. In his NHL career Neil has scored 43 points (24 goals, 19 assists) and compiled 572 penalty minutes. Neil has also played in 34 playoff games during the last three seasons in Ottawa tallying two points (1 goal, 1 assist) and 55 penalty minutes.

Neil played in 129 International Hockey League (IHL) games from 1999 to 2001. In his two IHL seasons Neil scored 55 points (24 goals, 31 assists) and racked up 655 penalty minutes. He ranked second in the IHL in penalty minutes in each of his two seasons in the league. Neil's 655 career penalty minutes place him third in Grand Rapids Griffins history in the category.

Ottawa drafted Neil with their seventh choice (161st overall) in the 1998 NHL entry draft. Neil will be available for Wednesday night's 7:05 p.m. contest against the Norfolk Admirals and wear jersey number 25 for the B-Sens.
