Adirondack Phantoms News Release

(PHILADELPHIA, March 1, 2005) - The Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League announced today that rookie center R.J. Umberger has been named the Toyota Phantoms Player of the Month for February. Umberger will receive his award in a pregame presentation on Sunday, March 6, when the Phantoms host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Wachovia Spectrum at 5:05 p.m.

Umberger led the Phantoms in points (9) and assists (7) over 12 games last month, including collecting five points during a season-high five-game road trip in which the team went 4-1. The 22-year-old had three multi-point performances and ranked second on the club in shots (30).

"R.J. has really come on as of late, and a lot of our success on the road in February was due to his quality of play," said Phantoms head coach John Stevens. "He and Jon Sim are a threat together every time they get on the ice."

Originally from Pittsburgh, Umberger is currently second on the Phantoms and fifth among all AHL rookies in points (36). He was previously named the AHL Rookie of the Month for November and is one of just three Phantoms to have played in all 56 games this season. The former Ohio State University standout was a first-round NHL Draft pick (16th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks in 2001.

The Toyota Phantoms Player of the Month award is in its second season, as a Phantoms player will be honored each month through the end of the regular season for his contributions on the ice. Tony Voce was the winner for the month of October; November's winner was Antero Niittymaki, Patrick Sharp won the award for December and Randy Jones was honored in January.

Tickets to all Phantoms home games are $19, $18 and $14 for adults, and $8 for all children 14 and under, and are available now at the Wachovia Center box office and all Ticketmaster locations throughout the Delaware Valley. Tickets can also be charged by phone by calling (215) 336-2000, (856) 338-9000 or (302) 984-2000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
