Admirals Play Three in Three this Weekend

Milwaukee, WI--This weekend the Milwaukee Admirals (30 Games Played, 19-10-0-1, 2nd place Midwest Division, 6th place Western Conference, 12th place AHL) will try to snap a two-game losing streak while playing host to Lake Erie (34 GP, 16-16-1-1, 3rd place North Division, 10th place Western Conference, 20th place AHL) Friday night and Charlotte (35 GP, 20-12-2-1, 1st place Midwest Division, 2nd place Western Conference, 5th place AHL) Saturday night at the Bradley Center, before traveling to Peoria (35 GP, 17-15-2-1, 3rd place Midwest Division, 7th place Western Conference, 15th place AHL) for a Sunday matinee (5 P.M. start).

Friday night will mark the first of four meetings for Milwaukee with the Monsters this season, and the first of three games between the two clubs in the Admirals' next eight contests. Last year Milwaukee won three of the four games with Lake Erie, with the Monsters only win coming in the teams' last showdown on March 19th (a 3-2 decision at the Bradley Center). Lake Erie is coming off of a 96-point campaign in 2010-2011, finishing in second place in the North Division.

Saturday night Milwaukee will face the Checkers for the fourth time this season and second time on home ice. The teams' most recently met in a two-game series at Charlotte (Nov. 26-27), where the Admirals dropped 3-2 and 5-1 decisions respectively in Kirk Muller's final two games as Milwaukee's head coach. In the teams' other meeting, Milwaukee earned a 3-1 victory against the Checkers on Nov. 4. Recently named Admirals' All-Star Chris Mueller (Buffalo, New York) scored the game winning goal at 15:15 of the first period on the power play, while Milwaukee goaltender Jeremy Smith (Dearborn, Michigan) made 28 saves for the victory. Charlotte goaltender Mike Murphy made 24 saves in the loss.

On Sunday, the Admirals travel to Peoria to try to avenge the Rivermen's first win in the teams' six-game season series to date. Playing on New Year's Day, Peoria snapped a six-game losing streak to Milwaukee with a 1-0 win at the Bradley Center. Rivermen captain Adam Cracknell scored the game's only goal at 11:41 mark of the second period on the power play, while Peoria goaltender Ben Bishop made 18 saves to earn the victory. Milwaukee goaltender Atte Engren (Rauma, Finland) stopped 28 of 29 shots to take the hard luck loss. The Admirals last win at Peoria came back on Dec. 3, when Milwaukee earned a 3-2 victory at Carver Arena. Forward Gabriel Bourque (Rimouski, Quebec) scored the game winning goal at 15:39 of the third period, while Engren made 29 saves. Rivermen netminder Jake Allen stopped 31 shots to take the loss.
