Three Names Added to Outdoor Classic Alumni Roster
January 6, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club announced today that two names have been added to the roster for the 2012 PepsiCo AHL Outdoor Classic Alumni / Celebrity Game which will take place on Friday, January 20th, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario.
Jeff O'Neill will join the Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni team, which Ron Ellis will help coach. Current Bulldogs Assistant Coach Ron Wilson will also be playing for the Montreal Canadiens Alumni team. This means that the coaches and players on both alumni teams have played in more than 450 NHL seasons and almost 30,000 NHL games. They have scored just under 7,000 NHL goals, and have close to 17,000 NHL points, 19 NHL awards, and 42 Stanley Cups.
"With almost a century of history between the two teams, there is no greater rivalry than the one between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs," said Hamilton Bulldogs Owner and Chairman Michael Andlauer. "We're thrilled that so many Habs and Leafs greats will be participating in the PepsiCo AHL Outdoor Classic Alumni Luncheon and the PepsiCo AHL Outdoor Classic Alumni Game."
"We will have five Honored Members of the Hockey Hall of Fame with us in Hamilton for a celebration of the game of hockey, our community, and one of the greatest rivalries in sport," added Andlauer. "Even though these players are no longer competing in the NHL, they'll be ready to compete come January 20th because it's Montreal versus Toronto, and the rivalry still means a lot to each and every one of them. I can't wait to watch the Canadiens and Maple Leafs alumni battle for the win under the lights at Ivor Wynne Stadium in just 14 days."
