
Blue Jackets Recall Center Ryan Russell from AHL's Springfield Falcons

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have added center Ryan Russell to the roster on emergency recall from the Springfield Falcons, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced today.
Russell, 23, is expected to make his NHL debut at Los Angeles on Saturday. He has recorded nine goals and six assists for 15 points and 15 penalty minutes in 30 games with Springfield this season. He ranks third on the club in goals and is sixth in points. Last season, he collected 10-11-21, 48 penalty minutes and was +17 in 65 games with Hamilton (AHL).
A native of Caroline, Alberta, Russell was the New York Rangers ninth pick, 211th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft. He has appeared in 273 career AHL games, collecting 60-55-115, 99 penalty minutes and a +54 cumulative plus/minus rating. He split his first professional season in 2007-08 between Hamilton and Cincinnati (ECHL) and helped the Cyclones win the 2008 Kelly Cup. Prior to his professional career, he notched 98-118-216, 155 penalty minutes and a +61 cumulative plus/minus rating in 263 career WHL games from 2003-07.
The Blue Jackets return to action Saturday when the club visits the Los Angeles Kings. Game time from STAPLES Center is set for 4 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio HD begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 3:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Wheeling Island Hotel & Casino Blue Jackets Radio Network, including WWCD 102.5 FM in Columbus and online at BlueJackets.com.
