Rockford Bests Aeros, 4-1

HOUSTON --- Mike McKenzie scored his first goal of the season, and Matt Hackett made 27 saves but the Houston Aeros fell 4-1 to the Rockford IceHogs Friday at Toyota Center.

Despite the loss, Houston remains in third place in the AHL's West Division, five points out of first place.

McKenzie tied the score at 1-1 at 14:31 in the first period after Ben Smith gave the IceHogs a 1-0 lead at three minutes in the first period.

Peter LeBlanc put Rockford ahead 2-1 at 5:10 in the second with his 11th goal of the season.

Brandon Bollig scored at 5:52 in the third period to make it 3-1, and Rostislav Olesz added an empty netter.

Houston takes on the San Antonio Rampage Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the AT&T Center in San Antonio to start a four-game road trip. The Aeros return home Jan. 20 to host San Antonio at 7:35 p.m. at Toyota Center.

Nate Prosser, who was reassigned by Minnesota to the Aeros Thursday, had his first assist with the Aeros since Dec. 2, 2011...
