Admirals Get by Flames 4-0

Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI- Hugh Jessiman and the Milwaukee Admirals got revenge on the Quad City Flames Tuesday night with a 4-0 shutout victory after the Flames topped the Admirals on Sunday.

Jessiman posted a hat trick for the Admirals, the team's first since March 11th, 2009, while Ryan Jones added three points and Drew MacIntyre stopped 32 shots to earn his third shutout of the season.

The scoring started late in the first period and favored the Admirals. At 16:26 they were able to net their first goal just 10 seconds into the power-play when Ryan Jones won a face-off in the offensive zone to Defenseman Cody Franson who then handed it off to Jessiman. Jessiman was able to take some time to aim his wrister right over goaltender Leland Irving's glove, thanks in part to a screen that Jones provided in front of the Quad City netminder. Jessiman recorded his seventh goal of the season on his well placed shot.

Although the second period had no scoring, it didn't mean it lacked action. Both teams seemed to be very precise in their systems, rarely making mistakes that would allow the opposing team to capitalize. The hitting was hard and the play was gritty. Both teams accumulated a decent amount of shots, Milwaukee with 10 and Quad City with 11, but the goalies did their job in making sure the game stayed close.

The third period play resembled that of the second. The chances were there for both teams, but the Admirals were able to finish the job on two of their opportunities and eventually come away with the win.

On the second goal, rookie Patric Hornqvist received a go-ahead pass from Alexander Sulzer and took it down the right-wing side, finding Ryan Jones in front of the net for a perfect pass/shot deflection over Irving's shoulder. Jones recorded his second point of the game on the play, giving him his 12th goal and 19th point on the season.

The third goal came yet again from the stick of Hugh Jessiman. Ryan Jones wasn't done racking up the points, as he had the puck in front of Irving and without looking threw it behind his back, finding Jessiman for an open net. Cal O'Reilly also received an assist on the play.

The score could have easily been 5-0, seeing that there were numerous other chances in the period for the Ads to capitalize; once from a 2-on-1 involving Cody Franson and Ryan Maki, in which Irving made an outstanding pad-stacking save, and the other coming from a shot by Patric Hornqvist that rang off the post.

Hugh Jessiman wasn't done for the night, as he picked up the hat-trick by scoring on an empty net with thirty-one seconds left.
