Houston, TX--Houston's Casey Wellman and Jared Spurgeon scored in the shootout to lift the Houston Aeros to a 2-1 shootout win over the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday at the Toyota Center.

Milwaukee's lone goal in the shootout was scored by Chris Mueller. Spurgeon, the sixth shooter, recorded the winning tally.

The Aeros got on the board with a controversial goal at 5:12 of the third. Spurgeon's backhander from the left circle went over goalie Mark Dekanich's right shoulder but appeared to hit the crossbar. After conversing with the goal judge, referee Terry Koharski awarded the goal to the Aeros defenseman.

Milwaukee tied the game with 6:45 to play. Aaron Johnson knocked down an Aeros clearing attempt at the blue line, skated to the right circle and slid a backhander between the legs of goalie Anton Khudobin.

Dekanich stopped 26 of 27 shots in the shootout loss.

The Admirals dropped to 4-3-0-2 on the ten-game road trip, guaranteeing the club at least a .500 record on the season-long venture away from the Bradley Center.

Milwaukee completes its ten-game road trip Sunday at San Antonio. The Ads return to the Bradley Center Wednesday, December 1st at 7:00 pm against the Manitoba Moose.
