Capitals Assign Brian Fahey to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have assigned defenseman Brian Fahey to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Fahey, 29, collected his first NHL point in last night's 6-0 win over Tampa Bay at Verizon Center. Fahey

has played five games for the Capitals this season collecting one assist and two penalty minutes. The 6'1", 215-pound native of Des Plaines, Ill., made his NHL debut on Oct. 16 at Nashville and has recorded seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) in 13 games for the Bears this season.

He has played 503 career games at the AHL and ECHL level combined. Fahey was signed as a free agent July 7, 2010.
