Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Houston, TX--Forward Robbie Earl scored the game-winning goal at 1:25 of overtime to give the Houston Aeros a 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Tuesday at the Toyota Center.
The puck was bouncing in front of Milwaukee goalie Mark Dekanich and the Admirals were unable to clear it. Earl fired it into the net to move Houston into a first-place tie with Milwaukee atop the West Division. Both teams have 84 points.
Milwaukee struck first with a power play goal scored after a scramble in front of Aeros goalie Matt Hackett at 13:33 of the second period. Roman Josi's shot from the left point was deflected in front by Chris Mueller, bounced to Ryan Thang and then to Gabriel Bourque. Bourque slapped the puck into the net for his 13th goal of the season, 4th on the power play. Thang and Mueller recorded the assists.
The Aeros tied the game with a power play goal at 19:13 of the second period. Patrick O'Sullivan's low wrist shot from the right faceoff date found its way into the net past Dekanich's left leg.
Another power play goal from Bourque gave Milwaukee a 2-1 lead at 8:37 of the third period. Grant Lewis fed Mueller on the right wing as the Admirals were breaking out of the defensive zone. Mueller crashed to the net but was forced just beyond the goal line. He passed to the crease and Bourque slapped it in for his second goal of the game, 14th of the season and 5th on the power play. Mueller and Lewis notched the helpers.
O'Sullivan, however, tied the game just 15 seconds later. A bouncing puck was corralled at center by the Aeros forward who slapped the puck to the Milwaukee goal and beat Dekanich from the center dot. It appeared Dekanich never saw the puck until it was past him.
