Moose Release Waugh from PTO

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have released defenceman Geoff Waugh from his professional tryout contract.

Waugh, 27, was signed to a PTO on Feb. 17/11. Prior to joining the Moose, Waugh played in 47 games this season with the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL. In that time, the Winnipeg, MB native had scored eight points (2g, 6a) and recorded 74 penalty minutes. Last season, Waugh appeared in 29 games with the Moose where he collected an assist and 41 penalty minutes. He has played in 152 career AHL games in his five-year pro career with Manitoba, Portland, Binghamton, and Springfield. In that time, he's scored 10 points (7g, 3a) and 265 penalty minutes.

Waugh was originally drafted by Dallas in the third round, 78th overall, of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
