Aeros Sign Scott Campbell, Release Chris Lawrence

HOUSTON --- Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed free agent forward Scott Campbell to an amateur tryout contract (ATO). The team also released forward Chris Lawrence from his professional tryout contract (PTO).

Campbell, 24 (6/6/86), collected 85 points (39-46...) and 80 penalty minutes (PIM) in 126 games during four seasons at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. He served as team captain during his senior season and recorded three points (2-1=3) and eight penalty minutes (PIM) in 12 games with the River Hawks. He missed 22 contests due to injury.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Navan, Ontario, tallied 34 points (16-18=34) in 39 games in 2009-10 and led the team in scoring and power-play goals (nine) and ranked second in goals and assists. Campbell also led the River Hawks in scoring during his sophomore season tallying 30 points (14-16=30) in 38 contests and had a team-best 60.3 faceoff percentage. He appeared in all 37 games during his freshmen season and recorded 18 points (7-11=18). Campbell was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team in 2008 and 2010.

Lawrence appeared in two games with the Aeros and registered a minus-1 rating and no points.
