Aces Shut Down Isotopes with 5-1 Victory

After being swept the last time they visited Isotopes Park, the Reno Aces shut down the Isotopes tonight 5-1. Aces starter Braden Shipley led the charge, tossing eight innings of one-run ball against Albuquerque.

The lone run scored by the Isotopes came in the bottom of the seventh inning on Ben Paulsen's RBI single to right field. Mike Tauchman scored on the play after reaching base on a double to left field.

Jordan Patterson connected on the only other extra-base hit of the game for Albuquerque, driving a triple to the wall in right-center during the bottom half of the second inning.

Albuquerque starter Harrison Musgrave took the loss on the evening after allowing four runs on six hits. The left-hander struck out six and walked two while on the hill.

The Isotopes look to get back in the win column tomorrow evening in game two of the four-game set. Right-hander Matt Flemer (4-3, 4.50) gets the nod for Glenallen Hill's squad. The Aces will counter with lefty Edwin Escobar (3-1, 4.06). First pitch from Isotopes Park is set for 7:05 p.m.
