Aces Reassigned David Eddy, Sign G Alex Kangas

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced today that the team has been reassigned right wing David Eddy by the Flames from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League and has signed goaltender Alex Kangas.

Eddy, 22, has three points in five games with the Aces this season, along with a +1 rating and 12 penalty minutes. He has added three games with Abbotsford and has earned a goal and seven penalty minutes in 17 career AHL games.

The 6-foot, 187 pound forward racked up 16 points and 61 penalty minutes in 32 regular season games with the Utah Grizzlies last season, also posting a goal in four Kelly Cup Playoff games.

Kangas joins the Aces with four games of experience in the Central Hockey League with the Fort Wayne Komets in 2011-12, going 2-1-0 with a .889 save percentage. He previously spent his college career with the University of Minnesota (NCAA) and was 47-41-16 with a .912 save percentage and four shutouts in 109 career games.

The 6-foot-1, 175 pound netminder became the fourth goaltender in program history to surpass the 2,600 career save mark and was Minnesota's Most Valuable Player and MVP of the WCHA Final Five as a 2007-08 freshman, breaking the Golden Gophers records in goals-against-average (1.98) and save percentage (.930).

Eddy and Kangas (#1) will join the Aces in time for their next game tonight at 5:05 p.m. (103.7 FM/750 AM KFQD), continuing an eight game road trip against the Grizzlies at Maverik Center.
