Aces Fall To Memphis 5-2

August 11, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release

Kevin Mulvey was brilliant through seven innings, but Major League rehabber Kyle Lohse was better, leading Memphis to a 5-2 win over Reno Tuesday night at Aces ballpark.

The Aces took an early 1-0 lead on a second-inning RBI-groundout by Mulvey, but Lohse kept Reno off the board after that. Memphis erased the deficit in the fourth, took the lead in the fifth and added three runs over the game's final two frames to pull away. After the Aces put the first two batters on in the second inning, Lohse retired 18 of the final 19 batters he faced before handing the ball to the bullpen.

Mulvey (6-8) suffered the loss for the Aces, despite hurling seven innings and allowing just two runs on five hits. Jose Marte allowed three runs in two innings of work out of the Aces bullpen.

Lohse (1-0) tossed 65 of his 101 pitches for strikes to earn the victory for Memphis, striking out nine and walking two in seven innings of work. Chuckie Fick worked the eighth for Memphis, allowing one run, before Matt Kinney came on in the ninth to earn his eighth save of the season.

Jeff Bailey reached base twice-recording a double and drawing a walk-to extend his franchise-record home on-base streak to 37 games, while Cole Gillespie added two hits and an RBI for Reno.

Reno and Memphis conclude this four-game set Wednesday afternoon at Aces Ballpark. Aces RHP Matt Torra (8-6, 3.97 ERA) will toe the slab against Redbirds LHP Nate Robertson (0-0, 0.00 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.

Tickets for all Aces games start at just $7, and are available by calling the Reno Aces box office at (775) 334-7000 or by visiting RenoAces.com. The brand-new Freight House District, located just outside Aces Ballpark, is open seven days a week, on both game days and non-game days.
