Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees used a big fourth inning to take lead and roll to a 10-5 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Tuesday night. The win brought the Bees to within one-half game of division leading Tacoma. Salt Lake trailed 2-1 going into the fourth, but took the lead on a three-run homer by Paul McAnulty. Hank Conger singled and later scored on a base hit by Nick Gorneault and an error by Zephyrs' left fielder John Raynor. Darwin Perez drove in a run with a single and came home on a double by Terry Evans. Michael Ryan capped off the inning with an RBI double.
Amalio Diaz (4-4) earned the win, as he allowed four runs, one earned, on seven hits with a season-high eight strikeouts. Barret Browning and Jordan Walden each worked a 1-2-3 inning and Ryan Houston was touched for an unearned run in the ninth inning, but closed out the game by inducing a ground out by Danny Richar. Evans, Ryan, Conger, Perez and Nick Gorneault each had two hits with one run batted in, as all nine members of the Salt Lake starting lineup had at least one hit each.
