Z's Take Finale from Bees 7-1

The New Orleans Zephyrs scored single runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings before breaking the game open with a three run seventh and Alex Sanabia (1-0) cruised to his first win of the year, as the Z's defeated the Salt Lake Bees 7-1 in the final game of a eight-game road trip.

Scott Cousins continued his hot hand from the start, singling to lead off the game and stealing second base for his 10th steal of the year.

With two outs in the top of the first, Mark Saccomanno ripped a RBI single to left field, plating Cousins and giving the Zephyrs their first lead of the night.

In the top of the fourth, Danny Richar led off the inning with his team-leading 22nd double of the year and after advancing to third on a ground out, Brad Davis delivered a one-out RBI single to make it 2-0.

Saccomanno charted his second hit of the game to lead off the top of the six with his first triple of the season. Two batters later, Bryan Petersen drove a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Saccomanno.

The Zephyrs extended their lead in the top of the seventh, as Mike Lamb capped off his three hit night with a three-run home run to right field, on the first pitch he saw from Bees starter Eric Junge (3-1).

The Z's would add one more run to their total in the following frame, as Cousins delivered a RBI single with the bases loaded.

Salt Lake plated their lone run in the next half inning, as Paul McAnulty doubled to center field, scoring Terry Evans.

Z's center fielder Cameron Maybin went 0-for-3 with with a run scored and two walks, snapping his hit-streak at ten games.

Sanabia allowed one run on five hits and three walks while striking out two over eight strong innings, as Dan Meyer pitched a scoreless ninth inning in relief.

The Zephyrs return home for an eight-game home stand starting on Friday with the first of four games against the Reno Aces.
