June 25, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release
Reno, Nev.-Reno's offensive woes continued on Monday night, as the Aces fell 4-2 to the Tucson Padres in the third game of the series at Aces Ballpark.
D-backs RHP J.J. Putz, in continuation of his Major League Rehabilitation Assignment, and D-backs No. 1 prospect Tyler Skaggs combined to shutout the Padres through the fifth. Back-to-back bunt singles off the bats of Chris Robinson and Jesus Merchan in the fifth marked Tucson's first hits of the game.
A four-run sixth inning for the Padres gave the club a lead they would not surrender.
The Aces combined for just six hits in the game, including Mike Jacobs' ninth home run of the season in the second. He went 2-for-4 on the night.
With a single in his first at bat of the game, Chris Owings became the first batter in Reno franchise history to record at least 40 hits in three consecutive months.
In his first game of a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment, D-backs infielder Eric Chavez played 5.0 innings for Reno, going 0-for-3 at the plate.
Skaggs was charged with his sixth loss of the season, giving up four runs on five hits through 5.0 innings. He struck out five and walked four.
