
A Wild One In Rome Sees Asheville Get Victory

Rome, GA - The Asheville Tourists defeated the Rome Braves 9-8 Tuesday night in front of 2,008 fans at State Mutual Stadium for their second straight win. It was Rome's eighth consecutive defeat.
The Braves posted two runs early in the fourth from a sacrifice fly by Jakob Dalfanso and an RBI double by Elmer Reyes. The Tourists took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on a two RBI triple by Dustin Garneau and an RBI single by Joey Wong.
In the sixth inning, Helder Velazquez singled a later scored on a base hit by Kyle Parker giving Asheville the 4-2 lead.
The Braves took the lead once again in the eighth scoring three runs after two outs. David Rohm singled, Jakob Dalfonso walked, and Elmer Reyes reached on an infield single to load the bases. Barrett Kleinknecht then doubled to right field to clean the bases giving Rome a 6-5 advantage heading to the ninth.
Rome's lead didn't last long. After one out, Kyle Parker was hit by a pitch and after Brett Tanos popped up for the second out, Garneau hit a 3-2 pitch over the left field wall putting the Tourists ahead 6-5. The Braves bounced back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning when Kyle Rose doubled, went to third on a sacrifice bunt, and later scoring on a passed ball making the score 6-6 sending the game into extra innings.
Asheville grabbed the lead once again in the eleventh on a two run single by Tanos and a suicide squeeze bunt by Joey Wong giving Asheville a three run advantage. Rome fought back once again in the bottom of the inning thanks to a two RBI triple off the center field wall by Christian Bethancourt, but the Braves would come up one run short. Asheville held on for the 9-8 victory.
Juan Perez (3-0) earns the win for Asheville, while Rome reliever Danilo Alvarez (1-1) takes the loss for Rome. Rafael Suarez gets the save for the Tourists (1).
Rome takes on Asheville tomorrow afternoon at one o clock for the third game of the series.
