Roller Reinstated from DL, Toussen Transferred to Staten Island

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Monday that Charleston RiverDogs first baseman/designated hitter Kyle Roller has been reinstated from the 7-day DL. Utility infielder Jose Toussen, meanwhile, has been transferred to the Staten Island Yankees.

Roller, a 8th round pick of the Yankees in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, was off to a sizzling start with the RiverDogs before heading to the DL on April 17, batting .385 with three doubles and 4 RBI through his first seven games. The East Carolina product led the NYPL Staten Island Yankees in hits and total bases during his 2010 rookie campaign.

Toussen, a Yankees free agent signee in July 2006, had performed well in limited playing time with the RiverDogs. The Dominican Republic native .385 with two runs scored and three stolen bases in five games. Toussen spent the majority of last season with the GCL Yankees, hitting at a .277 clip with a home run, 15 RBI and 24 runs scored over 45 games.

The RiverDogs play game two of a season-long nine-game road trip tonight at 6:35 pm versus the two-time defending SAL Champion Lakewood BlueClaws. Charleston returns to the friendly confines of Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on another Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, May 5, against Lakewood.
