A Tough Loss in Kingston
November 13, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Brampton Steelheads News Release
First Period
The Steelheads were looking for their sixth straight win as they clashed with the Kingston Frontenacs.
The Steelheads came out blazing in the opening frame. The first goal came at the 4:24 mark as defenseman Evan Brand nets his first goal of the year with a nice shot top-shelf above Kingston netminder Leevi Merilainen. Ty Collins and Luca DelBelBelluz were credited with the assist. Brand's goal was his first since October 14, 2019, coming against his former team.
The Steelheads continued to establish pressure in the attacking zone, and it paid dividends. DelBelBelluz notched his seventh goal of the year, courtesy of a great rush from the neutral zone, shooting a knuckler past the Kingston netminder for a 2-0 lead. Kasper Larsen was credited with the assist.
Steelheads' starting goaltender Roman Basran had a quiet first period, but his timely saves on Frontenacs' Jackson Stewart and Martin Chromiak kept the Frontenacs scoreless.

Second Period
Basran and the Steelheads defence stood tall in the second period. The Steelheads netminder was sharp in goal with several timely saves on the Kingston offence, while the defence made the Frontenacs earn their shots with their stingy play. The league's second-ranked Steelheads' penalty kill unit was up to the task with a flawless effort in the middle frame.

Third Period
It was a dramatic third period for the Steelheads. At the 1:41 mark, Frontenacs' Paul Ludwinski jammed in the loose rebound, beating sprawling Steelheads' Basran to put Kingston on the board. Steelheads responded ninety seconds later with a goal from Collins, shot off Bjorgvik-Holm's blueline shot, sliding past Kingston's Merilainen for a 3-1 lead.
The Frontenacs cued the comeback with Jordan Frasca banging in the rebound past the sprawling Basran to cut the Steelheads lead to 3-2. Kingston evened the score at the 10:38 mark, courtesy of a Braden Hache shot going past Basran.
The Steelheads took back the lead at the 15:11 mark. Owen Beck faked a Kingston defender, going top shelf past Merilainen. Zakary Lavoie and Charlie Callaghan received the assists.
With under two minutes remaining, the Frontenacs tied the game with Lucas Edmonds' wrist shot past DelBelBelluz and an unsuspecting Basran.
