November 13, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Rangers headed south of the border for the first time this season to face the Flint Firebirds, hoping to snap a four-game losing streak.

Just 1:30 into the first period, Reid Valade put the Rangers up 1-0 on a nice feed from Matthew Sop. Later in the period, the Rangers were given a powerplay, but could not capitalize on the opportunity. Arber Xhekaj would score his second of the season to extend the lead to 2-0. Flint would respond after, to get back within one. After killing off a penalty, Mike Petizian would add another for the Rangers in the period, to make it 3-1.

Early in the second period, the Rangers got into penalty trouble, getting three consecutive penalties called against them. This gave Flint an extended 5-on-3. Flint was unable to score on the advantage as it remained 3-1 Rangers. Jackson Parsons was stellar through two periods, stopping 28 of 29 shots. The Rangers took the 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

During the third period, both teams exchanged chances early but neither could score. Midway through the period, Brennan Othmann was sent on a breakaway, only to be stopped by the toe of Jackson Parsons. Reid Valade would score his second of the game to give the Rangers a 4-1 lead. Soon after, Flint would get one back late in the period, making it a 4-2 game.

The Rangers came away with a big 4-2 win. Jackson Parsons was solid all game as he stopped 40 of 42 shots.
