Cranley Saves 67's in Win over Bulldogs

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. For the first time this season the Hamilton Bulldogs hosted the Ottawa 67's to close out the weekend and once again the third period would haunt the Dogs.

The 67's opened the scoring in a sleepy first period as Dylan Robinson would strike on the power- play off a nice feed from Brenden Sirizzotti to take a 1-0 lead at 8:09. The Bulldogs broke the malaise on a power-play of their own after Steven Laforme caught Ryan Humphrey with a high stick.

George Diaco from the left point hit Avery Hayes below the goal line who in turn set the puck perfectly for Jan Mysak's one-timer past Colin MacKenzie, Mysak's 9th of the season, tying the game 1-1. Mysak struck again before the first period was out, right at the end of a penalty kill, flying into the offensive zone on the right-wing, moving around an Ottawa defender to the left circle and tossing the puck past MacKenzie for his 2nd of the game and 9th of the season at 16:32 giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead into the intermission.

After Mark Duarte was flagged for a tripping penalty to open the second period, Vsevolod Gaidamak bounced a puck past Marco Costantini at 2:50 to tie the game 2-2. The knotted score didn't last long as Cole Brown sprang Avery Hayes for a 2-on-1 with Jan Mysak where Hayes looked off his teammate and snapped the puck past MacKenzie for his 6th of the season giving the Bulldogs back the lead at 8:55. The Hayes goal spelled the end for MacKenzie as Will Cranley entered the game for the 67's and wound up changing the complexion entirely.

The third period was all Ottawa, with Will Cranley holding the door shut, Luca Pinelli struck first after Cameron Tolnai rang the post, sending the rebound into the Hamilton net, tying the game at 1:54.

Ottawa took the lead at 9:19 after a Patrick Thomas, Mark Duarte 2-on-1 wouldn't go, Gaidamak would race the other way tucking his own rebound past Costantini giving Ottawa the 4-3 advantage.

Despite a late push with the goaltender pulled, Brenden Sirizzotti & Brady Stonehouse would each hit the empty net, securing a 6-3 Ottawa win with Cranley turning aside all 14 shots he faced.

The Hamilton Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, November 18th in Peterborough at 7:00pm before returning to the FirstOntario Centre on Saturday, November 20th to host the Sudbury Wolves at 4:00pm.
