TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Norfolk Tides in game three of their four-game series from Dunn Tire Park (7:05 p.m. first pitch). The Herd continued their dominance at home with a 1-0 victory over the Tides last night. Jeremy Guthrie pitched six shutout innings while infielder Jake Gautreau threw out a pair of runners at the plate to preserve the victory. Buffalo is now an IL-best 26-12 at home. Tonight, RHP Jason Davis will start for Buffalo. Davis won his last start on Friday with seven solid innings in Indianapolis. Davis will be up against LHP Neal Musser, who lost on Friday against Scranton/W-B despite allowing just two runs on five hits in six innings of work.

SO FAR, SO GOOD: The Bisons are halfway through their 2005 season and the results have been spectacular. At 44-28, Buffalo currently has the second best record in the International League. Their lead in the IL North division is also a season-high seven games heading into tonight. The Herd is leading the league in average (.280), runs (425) and home runs (113). On the mound, the Bisons are tied for 1st in the league with 23 saves and 3rd in fewest walks allowed (185). Buffalo is 8th in the IL with a 4.42ERA and sixth in strikeouts (500). Defensively, the Bisons have committed just 50 errors, second fewest in the league.

HERD OF ALL-STARS: Earlier today, the International League announced that a Bisons-record five players have been selected to their 2005 All-Star team. Outfielder Ernie Young, infielder Jake Gautreau and catcher Ryan Garko will start for the IL while pitcher Fernando Cabrera and infielder Brandon Phillips were named as reserves. The All-Stars will also have a familiar leader when they take on the PCL All-Stars on July 13 in Sacramento as skipper Marty Brown will be the IL manager.

ON THE LIST: Bisons' slugger Jeff Liefer is putting together another hitting streak. After going 2-3 last night, Liefer now has hit safely in six straight games, averaging .429 (9-21). This stretch comes two games after he had a six-game multi-hit streak, 6/7(2)-12. Overall, Liefer has hit .403 (27-67) in June, raising his average to .319 (10th in the International League).

ONE IS ENOUGH: The Bisons' 1-0 victory last night was their first such win since September 11, 2004. Fausto Carmona pitched eight shutout innings as the Bisons defeated the Durham Bulls, 1-0, in Game 4 of the IL Semi-Finals. Their last 1-0 win during the regular season was June 27, 2003 when Jason Phillips threw seven shutout innings against the Columbus Clippers.
