Montreal - The Canadian Football League announced today each team's nominees for the 2007 Most Outstanding Player awards. The following are the Alouettes' nominees:
MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER: BEN CAHOON (2nd nomination)
MOST OUTSTANDING CANADIAN: BEN CAHOON (6th nomination)
Ben Cahoon is the Alouettes' choice for CFL's Most Outstanding Player award for a second time in his illustrious career. This season, Cahoon became the first Alouette to record six straight 1,000 yard receiving seasons. In 15 games so far this season, he has registered 1,034 yards and four touchdowns on 84 receptions. He is also the team's nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian for a sixth season in a row. He was named the league's top Canadian in 2002 and 2003.
MOST OUTSTANDING LINEMAN: SCOTT FLORY (4th nomination)
The 2003, 2005 and 2006 East Division Most Outstanding Lineman, Scott Flory has become the leader of Montreal's offensive line. Flory was CFL All-Star in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006 and an East Division All-Star in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
MOST OUTSTANDING DEFENSIVE PLAYER: Randee Drew (1st nomination)
MOST OUTSTANDING ROOKIE: Randee Drew
Cornerback Randee Drew has been a pleasant surprise for the Alouettes this season. The rookie, who signed as a free agent last May, has 60 tackles, three interceptions and three sacks in 16 games.
MOST OUTSTANDING SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER: Walter Spencer (1st nomination)
Defensive end Walter Spencer has had a successful first season with the Alouettes on special teams. In 15 games so far, he leads the team and is second in the CFL with 23 special teams tackles. He also has four defensive tackles.
