(Calgary) - The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today the 2007 team outstanding players for the Rogers CFL Player Awards. The players were selected by 40 voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and eight CFL head coaches.

Below is a list of the 2007 Stampeder nominees:

Most Outstanding Player - Henry Burris

Heading into week 18, Quarterback Henry Burris has compiled some outstanding numbers in 2007. Despite missing three games due to injury, Burris still leads the CFL with 31 touchdown passes (6 more than any other quarterback). He is also nearing the 4,000 yards passing mark as he currently sits with 3,898, completing 260 of 426 passes. His efficiency rating has improved as the season has progressed and currently sits with the highest rating in the CFL at 104.6. On the ground Burris has been equally effective carrying the ball 84 times for 606 yards (currently 2nd in CFL for quarterbacks).

Most Outstanding Canadian Player - Brett Ralph

Brett Ralph continues to be the quiet consistent receiver for the Calgary Stampeders. Thus far in 2007, he has hauled in 49 receptions for 646 yards and three touchdowns. Along with his offensive production Ralph has also been valuable on special teams, recording a couple key tackles and taking on the position as the team's holder for the kicking game.

Most Outstanding Defensive Player - Shannon James

On the defensive side of the ball Linebacker Shannon James has been consistent thru each and every game. He currently sits third on the team with 55 defensive tackles and first in pass knockdowns. He has also recorded three quarterback sacks, one interception for 38 yards and two tackles for a loss.

Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman - Jay McNeil

A familiar face was named Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman once again. This is Jay McNeil's sixth time receiving the award and fourth consecutive as the Stampeders Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman. McNeil has been an integral part in the Stampeder offense that has currently gained the most yards total offence and currently sits second with the most yards net rushing.

Most Outstanding Rookie - Tearrius George

Defensive Lineman Tearrius George has created havoc for opposing quarterbacks since the first time he stepped on the field in the CFL. He currently leads all Stampeders with four tackles for a loss and is tied for the team lead with eight quarterback sacks. George has also recorded 27 defensive tackles, one fumble recovery and one special team tackle.

Most Outstanding Special Teams - Sandro DeAngelis

Once again, Sandro DeAngelis continues to be one of the most consistent kickers in the CFL. He currently sits second with an 83.9 field goal percentage, connecting on 26 of 31 attempts. One of his highlights this season was back on August 4th vs the Edmonton Eskimos, DeAngelis would connect on a 34 yard field goal with no time remaining to seal the victory for the Red and White 34-32.

In the first ballot, five FRC representatives from each CFL city plus the respective head coach submitted votes for the six categories. Voters were asked to select players from their local CFL club who through on field performance excellence, best represented the awards title - Outstanding Player, Outstanding Canadian Player, Outstanding Defensive Player, Outstanding Offensive Lineman, Outstanding Rookie, and Outstanding Special Teams Player.

The East and West Rogers CFL Player Awards voting results will be announced on Wednesday, October 31.
