London Rippers News Release

SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS - The London Rippers took out some early season frustration, crushing Schaumburg 12-1, in the first game of a three game series.

London had lost two of three at home against Gateway before a day off yesterday, starting the year with a 2-7 record.

But it didn't take long for the bats to heat up today.

London led 3-0 after the 1st thanks to a two-RBI single by Stephen Cardullo and an RBI single by Zach Larson, which started a string of three innings with multiple runs scored.

The 2nd inning was one for the history books. Joash Brodin became the first player in London Rippers history to hit a grand slam, pushing London ahead, 7-0.

London piled it on in the 3rd with two more runs on a 2-RBI double by Justino Cuevas.

The Rippers put another two on the board in a tense 5th, increasing their lead to 11-0.

After Aaron Glaum walked and stole a base, Justino Cuevas was hit by a pitch. He and Boomers' pitcher, Andy Weeks had words. The benches emptied but nothing happened.

The offense put up 17 hits in the game, easily their highest total of the season.

The offensive explosion by the Rippers was more than enough for starter, Yohan Gonzalez (1-0). He was outstanding, giving up only one run in 6 innings, with 6 hits and 6 strikeouts.

London and Schaumburg continue this tense series tomorrow at 11:00am Central.

Sheng-An Kuo starts for the Rippers, countered by Robby Donovan.
