Battery Sign Kirill Pakhomov to 2026 Roster After Successful Trial
February 6, 2026 - CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Battery are pleased to announce the signing of Russian defensive midfielder Kirill Pakhomov ("Pah-oh-mov") to the 2026 roster on Friday, pending league and federation approval. Pakhomov signs his first professional contract after impressing as a trialist during the 2026 preseason.

Battery Acquire All-League Defender Nathan Messer from Portland Hearts of Pine
February 5, 2026 - CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Battery confirmed the acquisition of defender Nathan Messer via permanent transfer from USL League One side Portland Hearts of Pine after triggering his release clause for an undisclosed fee on Thursday, pending league and federation approval.
Messer, 24, was a Defender of the Year finalist and an All-League First Team selection for Portland in 2025. The left-back now makes the jump back to the Championship after a breakout season in Maine.

Viggo Ortiz Permanently Transferred to Charlotte Independence
January 29, 2026 - CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Battery have agreed to the permanent transfer of midfielder Viggo Ortiz to USL League One side Charlotte Independence on Thursday, pending league and federation approval. Charleston will retain a sell-on clause for Ortiz as part of the transfer.
